BIO
A Midwestern native and Ohio grown songstress, Patty Lynn uses her voice and guitar to drive a melody down her own bittersweet and lonesome highway. She explores several musical avenues from country, alternative-rock, blues and folk, but at her core remains an americana artist. With sultry voice and earnest songwriting, she has spent the last two decades writing songs, performing and recording her own music.
Growing up in Columbus, Patty started vocal training at the age of ten. During this time, she also became interested in learning to play the ukulele. Once her hands grew to be large enough to fret a full-sized guitar, she began playing and writing her own songs. Receiving praises and encouragement during childhood performances she became inspired to embrace the path of her musical journey.
During adolescence, Patty participated in and won several vocal competitions. Before graduating from Fort Hayes Performing Arts School in Vocal Music, she wrote and recorded her first album with her high school band, Patty's Band. Subsequently, after a handful of performances the group parted ways and Patty went on to perform throughout Ohio as a solo artist. She toured the bar scene, played at parties, festivals, recorded songs and hosted a weekly open-mic night at the now defunct watering hole, High Five.
Shortly thereafter she attended the Recording Workshop to learn the art of audio engineering. Here she interned, taught recording classes and was able to collaborate with musicians from all over the world. Throughout this period, she was close-knit friends with the alt-rock band Keywise, where she lent her vocals and with them performed as an opening act for the band Hootie and the Blowfish. In addition to this highlight, Patty Lynn and Keywise worked together co-writing, playing out and sitting in on each other's studio sessions. Many songs on the Collaborations page were tracked during this time at the Recording Workshop studios.
In 2005, while working at a local guitar shop, co-workers Patty and Brad Comer decided to form the alt-country/americana band, The Furrow. In 2007 Brian Humphries joined and together they recorded an album over the next few years, finishing in 2010. Session musician Derek Dixie, shares video of two recording sessions, “Darlin’ It’s Ok” and “Wishful Thinking” located here.
After a several year solo stretch and hiatus, in 2014 she joined Joshua Cole's project, Midwestern Reserve. As a member of this alt-rock collaboration, Patty adds lead and background vocals to Josh's songs. In 2015, Midwestern Reserve released the album, "Lovers, Liars & Everyone Else" and opened for Happy Chichester, former front-man of the 90's alt-rock band, Howlin' Maggie at CD 102.5's Big Room Bar.
Patty continues to write songs and perform at parties, weddings and funerals. She also sings and plays bass in her basement jam-band on a regular basis.
